Bloomberg, the global business and financial information leader, today announced at the MiSK Global Forum in Riyadh, the signing of an agreement with the MiSK Foundation to explore a number of joint initiatives. The collaboration would see Bloomberg develop and deliver cross-disciplinary education and training programs focused on business, economics, finance and journalism to enhance the skills and knowledge of young finance and media professionals in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The agreement is made up of four pillars which would be developed by Bloomberg and the MiSK Foundation together:
1) The development of a Middle East-focused financial journalism training program, designed to strengthen professionals’ skills in capital markets and data analysis, and promote a transparent, data-driven approach to financial reporting.
2) The establishment of a large-scale financial literacy training program for university students and corporations focused on economic indicators, currencies, fixed income, and equities, woven together from Bloomberg data, news and analytics.
3) The introduction of international internship opportunities at Bloomberg for the next generation of talented finance and business graduates.
4) A collaboration between Bloomberg Beta, a venture firm backed by Bloomberg L.P. and the MiSK Foundation’s venture capital arm, to share best practice in identifying investment opportunities for financial return.
“This reflects Bloomberg’s commitment to promoting financial education and literacy in Saudi Arabia, the Middle East and around the world. We believe in the power of education and the financial markets to help promote growth and cooperation,” says Joshua L. Steiner, Head of Industry Verticals, Bloomberg L.P.
Secretary General of MiSK, Bader Al Asaker says: “MiSK is focused on developing the Saudi talent essential for delivering the ambitious economic reforms envisaged in Vision 2030. This means ensuring that our young people get the best training available in the world. The Bloomberg initiative offers a unique combination of education and hands-on experience from a global company which has defined best-in-class financial information, data and journalism.”
The MiSK Global Forum runs from 15-16th November in Riyadh and is being held under the auspices of Deputy Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman as part of the Vision 2030 transformation program.
The forum, which combines speeches, roundtables and thematic workshops, hosts a variety of global thought leaders, academics and business leaders from the worlds of tech and international business.
