How Duke Energy Will Reach Net-Zero Carbon Emissions

SOURCE: Duke Energy

By 2050, Duke Energy plans to achieve net-zero carbon emissions. It’s ambitious, but since 2005, the company has reduced its emissions by 39 percent. To reach net-zero, Duke Energy will explore new technologies, expand renewable energy, retire coal plants and invest in an electric grid that’s smarter and more resilient.

Duke Energy’s mission since bringing electricity to the Carolinas in 1904 has been to power the lives of its customers and the vitality of its communities. Today, it continues that tradition by embracing innovation to generate the cleaner energy that customers want while maintaining the reliable affordable service they depend on.
